A question that we often receive:
Q: May we bring our own boat out to White Shoal Light for a tour?
A: Absolutely! We will be posting a calendar (this Spring) on our website for this very purpose. It will alert boaters to what days and times we are accepting "drive-up" tours. If you would like to come out in your own boat, we highly recommend that you contact us beforehand to make arrangements as there will be very limited ability to safely moor your boat at the site. We also recommend that you fill out and submit the liability waiver posted on the same page as the availability calendar. Cost for the approximate 2-hour tour of the light station will be $30 per person (if you provide your own transportation). This fee can be paid on our website before you boat out OR you can pay cash at the light station.
Q: Can we show up at the light station unannounced?
A: Yes, you are welcome to come out to the light station any time day or night to take pictures. That does not necessarily mean you will be granted access to the structure. If we happen to be open for tours upon your arrival and we have a safe place for you to tie up, then we will lower you down a bucket. The bucket will contain the liability waiver was well as instructions on how to pay the $30 per person fee (obviously it will be easier to have this all pre-arranged). Once the waiver is signed and restoration fee has been paid, you and your guests will be invited onto the structure for the 2-hour tour.
PLAN A TRIP OUT TO WHITE SHOAL THIS SUMMER!
We look forward to hosting you!
